Jose Antonio Ortiz Jr.

Jose, affectionately known as Tony, was born on April 17, 1986, in Dallas, Texas, to Jose Ortiz Sr. and Irma Cazares. He graduated from Jefferson Davis High School in 2006. In 2015, he married Erica Cedillo, and together they built a life in Houston, Texas, where they lovingly raised their three children.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Erica Renee Cedillo-Ortiz; his children, Celeste Renee Ortiz, Andrew Ventura Ortiz, and Leonardo Eli Ortiz; his parents, Jose Ortiz Sr. and Irma Cazares; and his siblings, Maria Ortiz, Jonathan Ortiz, and Miguel Ortiz.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Jessica Ortiz; his grandparents, Miguel Cazares, Hermenejilda Martinez Puente, and Ventura Ortiz Guzman; and his cousin, Norberto Guzman.

Jose worked as a Foreman for Integrated Fire Systems and was a proud member of Local Union 669 for three years. He had a passion for football, fishing, and traveling, but above all, he cherished time spent with his family. He was also actively involved in East End Little League, where he made a lasting impact on many young lives.

Jose will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and the love he shared with those around him. His presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home Grand Chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 7539 Avenue K, Houston, TX 77012. Burial will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
