Jose Luis Perez

Jose Luis Perez, 56 of Houston, Texas went to be with the Lord on April 4, 2023 surrounded by loved ones. He is now resting in His loving arms. Jose Luis was born on February 11,1967 to Jose Luis Casarez and Alejandrina Perez in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico and was lovingly raised by Ruben and Maria Victoria Perez.

Jose trusted Jesus as his Savior early in his youth and this decision would impact the remainder of his life. His desire was to one day be reunited with his mother.

After graduating from Floresville High School, he enrolled at the Hispanic Baptist Theological Seminary in San Antonio, Texas. He became a missionary and served as a pastor and evangelist for many years. He met his future wife at a bible study that they both attended and married Maricela Leal on September 20, 1997. Jose was a loving and devoted father who was very proud of his very special children: his beautiful baby girl, Victoria and his two sons, Samuel and Ezekiel. He remained a loving and devoted father and husband for 25 years. He called this his most important ministry.

He devoted his life to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ and leaves a legacy of serving others and being an example of Jesus' love. His hobbies were barbecuing for family and friends and being a fitness enthusiast. His virtue, faith, kindness and wonderful smile will be dearly missed.

Jose is survived by his wife, Maricela; daughter, Victoria; sons, Samuel and Ezekiel; sisters, Elizabeth Casarez Perez and Guadalupe Patricia Martinez and countless family and friends.

"I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful. And now the prize awaits me. The crown of righteous, which the Lord, the righteous judge will give me on the day of His return." 2 Timothy 4:7-8

A visitation for Jose will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Houston's First Baptist Church - Downtown Campus, 1730 Jefferson St., Houston, TX 77003. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM, 1730 Jefferson St., Houston, TX 77003. A committal service will occur Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A Reception at the church will follow directly after the committal service.
