
Jovita Peresich Falgout M.D., age 92, died on June 28, 2012 at her home in Houston. Dr. Falgout was born on February 15,1920 in Biloxi, Mississippi. Her parents were Effie Thompson Peresich and Matthew Steven Peresich. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cleo Joseph Falgout, a Navy pilot who died in World War II, and by her sisters, Edna Campbell of Lake Charles and Evelyn Creel of Biloxi.
In 1941, Dr. Falgout received her RN from Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in New Orleans. During World War II, she served as a nurse in both the WAVES and the WACS. After the war, she worked as a nurse at the U.S. Public Hospital in New Orleans and received a B.S. degree in Nursing Education from LSU. She graduated from LSU School of Medicine in 1955. She did her internship and her Pediatric Residency at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. From 1958 until 1964, Dr. Falgout was a pediatrician at the Goldsmith Clinic in Lake Charles. After moving to Houston in 1964, she practiced at the Glen Valley Clinic until the early 1990’s. She was a staff physician at Texas Children’s Hospital and Memorial Southeast Hospital and was a clinical instructor in the Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine.
Dr. Falgout is survived by three nieces and one nephew, Nell Campbell of Santa Barbara, Evie Townsend of Lake Charles, Lynn Creel of Houston, and Motsie Creel of Biloxi.
At Dr. Falgout’s request, no services were held. Interment was at the Southern Memorial Park cemetery in Biloxi, Mississippi.
