Julia Cortinas Aguirre, devoted Christian, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, July 9, 2023. She a was born on January 12, 1934 in New Gulf, TX to Juan and Maria Cortinas.
Julia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Hector Aguirre; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Jose Melgar; parents, Juan and Maria Cortinas; brother, John Cortinas; sisters, Rosa Cortinas, Virginia Guerra and Corina Pizzini. She is survived by her loving daughters, Rosa Linda Aguirre, Mary Elizabeth Darden (Robert), and Brenda Lee Zertuche (Gilbert); 9 grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren; 2 great-great granddaughters; sister, Mary Borrego (Alex); brother, Richard Cortinas; sister-in-law, Hope Short; nieces, Ora Cantu (Paul), Cabrina Borrego (Tom), Edie Almogabar and numerous other nieces and nephews that were very dear to her.
Julia retired from Sears after working several years in the receiving department. She was a member of Iglesia Bautista Houston.
Julia had a special gift of caring for others. She was a dedicated caregiver to her parents and brother and was always available for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When anyone needed a listening ear and advise, whether a relative or friend, she was always ready to do so. She thought of others first and loved you unconditionally. Her faith and hope in the Lord is an inspiration to all. Julia’s beautiful smile, caring heart and comforting touch will be dearly missed.
