Karen was born on August 7, 1957 in Houston, Texas, where she grew up as the eldest of three sisters. Karen was a graduate of Dobie High School, Class of 1975, where she played the clarinet as part of the Longhorn marching band. Following in her father’s footsteps, she went on to attend Texas A&M University at College Station, and later began working as an administrative assistant.
More than anything, Karen was a devoted mother and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and friends - listening to music, playing games, and watching favorite TV shows. She adored jigsaw puzzles, a love which she passed down to her 4-year-old granddaughter, who now enjoys putting them together herself. She loved dogs and traveling South Padre Island and New Braunfels. Karen had a wonderful sense of humor and will be remembered for her wit and lighthearted jokes.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents James and Rita McCoubrey, and survived by her daughter, Ashley Boozer Uzan, her son in law, Eddie Uzan, granddaughter Avery Uzan, sisters Marianne Adamson and Linda McCoubrey, and nieces Carolyn Sloan and Stephanie Tope. Her memory will be forever cherished.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, November 9 at 11:00am at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home and Cemetery.
