Larry was born on October 26, 1957, in Houston, Texas, to Jo Louise (Poe) Wells and Marion Randolph “Randy” Wells. He graduated from Milby High School and married his childhood sweetheart, Debbie (Ingersoll) Hollis, with whom he had a beautiful daughter, Jennifer.
Over the years, Larry built a fulfilling career as a rancher and real estate broker. He was a proud member of the Texas Real Estate Commission and had a deep connection to the land and community he served.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Randy (d. 2022) and Jo Wells (d. 2022), and his brothers, Mark Hamilton Wells (d. 1995) and James Randolph Wells (d. 2022)
He is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Cynthia Hoverson. Larry and Cynthia shared a love story that spanned 45 years. Together, they filled their lives with joy, dancing through countless nights in the dance halls of Houston and Pasadena—“cutting a rug,” as Larry loved to say.
He is also survived by his children; Jennifer Wells McCauley (Scott), Gretchen Breen, Brigette Reisinger (Tony), and Phillip Goza; grandchildren, Malachy Breen (18), Logan McCauley (12), and Peyton McCauley (8); his brother, Richard Morris Wells (Leslie); sister, Patti Jo Wells Timblin; sister-in-law Donna Jackson, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Larry was a man of many passions. A skilled poker player, he frequently traveled to Las Vegas to compete in the World Series of Poker, where he was known for his calm demeanor and smart strategy. He was also an avid hunter, fisherman, and athlete, having played high school football during his days at Milby. Fluent in Spanish, Larry had a love for travel and adventure, often journeying through Central and South America with Cynthia, Jennifer, and friends.
He was a spiritual man of quiet faith, always guided by a strong moral compass—doing the right thing simply because it was right. His bond with his daughter, Jennifer, was deep and enduring. Though she grew up in California, Larry made it a priority to be present in her life—visiting often, traveling together, and sharing long talks on road trips where he would offer his wisdom, humor, and love.
Those who knew Larry will remember him for his enormous heart, quick wit, and magnetic personality. He was the kind of man who “brought the party” with him wherever he went and made everyone feel like family. Fiercely loyal and endlessly kind, Larry Wayne Wells was truly one of a kind—and his absence leaves an immeasurable void in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
