Pastor Leroy Woods Sr. was born on August 15, 1928 to Pathena Brown and Leroy Woods in Independence, Texas. He was the oldest of his siblings Sue Addie Brooks and Dennis “Sonny Boy” Taylor, who both preceded him in death. Leroy learned from an early age that if you work hard, you can achieve the impossible and that is exactly what he did. He entered the workforce as a teenager and never looked back. Life was going great for him, but he had no idea how more amazing it would become until the day he met the love of his life, Bessie Mae Miles. Leroy knew that Bessie was the one for him, so he asked for her hand in marriage and on October 18, 1947 they became husband and wife. The happy couple moved from Waco, Texas to Houston, Texas where Leroy entered the hotel industry and his career spanned 55 plus years. It afforded him the finances for him and his wife to become one of the first black home owners in Houston’s 3rd Ward community. The Woods household was filled with even more joy with the birth of his name sake Leroy Dino Woods Jr.. Later on in life God blessed them with a daughter as well in the Lord, Helen Jackson. Apostle Bessie Woods and Pastor Leroy Woods Sr. accepted their callings to preach the unadulterated Gospel of Jesus Christ and traveled all over the nation and the world proclaiming and spreading His Word. Under the leadership of the Holy Spirit, they became the pastors of The Church of Deliverance Miracle Faith Center and A Day Like Pentecost Crusade. Pastor Leroy Woods Sr. is preceded in death by his late wife, Apostle Bessie M. Woods, Daughter-n-love, Min. Angela Woods.
