Born Lou Ellen Downs March 20, 1919, daughter of Robert Carl Downs and Ellen Irene (Owens) Downs in Ft. Worth, TX, died peacefully on April 7, 2013 In Georgetown, TX. Lou, known for her love of family and church lived many years in Houston area. She worked for Transamerica Insurance for 30 years and was a 27 year member of the American Business Women’s Association, Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star and President of the Shine Band Bandettes.
She is survived by her children Dixie Tolbert, Roxy Mize and Cheryl Ivy, 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and brother Stephen Downs. Her death was preceded by her husband, Albert Pyle. Visitation at 1:00PM Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, followed by Funeral Services at 2:00PM.
