Lucille Carona Baker, 98, was reunited in heaven with her beloved husband Harold, on June 6, 2020 in Houston, Texas. She was born on September 9, 1921 in Dickinson, Texas to Leonardo and Mary (Salvato) Carona. Growing up she attended Sam Houston High School in Houston, Texas and went on to start her career, which ultimately led her to Baker Oil Tools where she later retired as a phone operator.
In 1948, she met the love of her life Harold E. Baker whom she spent 25 wonderful years with until his untimely death in 1973.
Lucille enjoyed many things in life, but found her time at Village on the Park in Friendswood, Texas to be the highlight. During her ten years as a resident she enjoyed the fellow residents and staff, but more importantly the freedom of maintaining her independence. She would often venture out of her residence in the morning and find herself happily preoccupied enjoying all the offerings of the Village well into the evening hours.
Lucille is preceded in death by husband Harold E. Baker; parents Leonardo and Mary Carona; brother Julian Carona; sisters Delores Frank, Lena Thibodeaux and Nellie Bishop; nephews Henry Arthur Leon “Butch” Frank and Dudley Thibodeaux; nieces Carol Ann Parsley and Shirley Plaster.
Her memory will live on through her nephews Benny J. Frank of Pearland, John Bishop of Spring and Leon Ray Bishop of New Braunfels; niece Doris Stauffacher of Cypress and many great nephews and nieces.
At the request of Lucille, there will be no services. She will be inurned at Houston National Cemetery at a later date.
Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home has been entrusted with Mrs. Baker’s care. Please leave online condolence messages of comfort and memories for the family below.
