

Tommie was a caring and loving husband, father and friend. He spent 20 years in the Air Force flying fighter jets. He loved flying and telling of his experiences and missions. When he retired from the Air Force he went into insurance sales and retired after 20 years. He had a good life and fulfilled his dreams.
He leaves his wife and best friend Wanda Shull; two children, daughter Denise Strauss (spouse Norbert “Norb” Strauss), son John Shull (spouse Lucy Shull); stepsons Rickie Martin (spouse Tiffany Martin) and Troy Smith. Brother Michael Shull. Grandchildren Henry Strauss, Megan Shull, Mackenzie Shull, Juan “J.J” Jose. Step grandson Rudy Garcia, and step great granddaughter Sabrina Brooks. Sisters-in-law Norma Clark and Dana Simpson (spouse Floyd Simpson)and many friends, especially the 5th Street Gang in Miami, FL which he grew up with and remained in touch all these years. They used to have reunions in Florida until it got too difficult for some to make the trip.
Tommie is missed terribly but is in a better place now with no more pain.
Visitation with the family was held on Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road, Houston, Texas 77055, where funeral services began at 12:30 p.m. in the R.L. Waltrip Venue. Full Military Honors were rendered by members of the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. A private burial was held at Houston National Cemetery.
