Margaret J. Furstenberg

She was born January 19, 1926, to Scrapps and Gladys Jones in Houston, Texas. She married Justin Furstenberg in 1948 at St. Christopher's Catholic Church, where she was a lifelong member. After Justin's death in 1967, she re-entered the workforce to provide for and finish raising their 7 children, ranging in age from 1 to 17 years. She was a wonderful mother who deserved that title in every sense of the word.

She was always caring, loving, and generous, bringing great joy to many people's lives, both family and friends. Over the past 20 years, she valiantly endured breast cancer, triple bypass heart surgery, numerous angioplasties, and knee replacement surgery, always maintaining a positive outlook. In her later years, she filled her time caring for other people, both children and adults, and volunteering at St. Christopher's rectory, as well as being active in the Friendship Club. Twenty years after defeating breast cancer, it returned and claimed her. She will be missed greatly.

She was preceded in death by her husband Justin, and son Paul, parents Gladys and Scrapps Jones, Sr., brothers Msgr. Jack Jones, Don Jones, Scrapps Jones, Jr., and Louis Jones; sisters Jane Appling Devine, Ann Guidry, Mary Takacs, and Lucina Musselman. Survived by her sons Richard Furstenberg (Connie), Dennis Furstenberg, Bruce Furstenberg (Cathy), daughters Ginny Goodman, Joan Furstenberg, Laura Paddy (George), sisters Rachel Abbott (Gene), Ramah Briganti (Frank), brother Robert Jones (Betty), sisters-in-law Cyrilla Jones, Anne Jones, Irene "Dink" Furstenberg, Barbara Furstenberg, 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home (6900 Lawndale Avenue, Houston, TX 77023, 713-928-5141) on Tuesday, July 31 from 5-8pm with Rosary at 7:00pm. Funeral mass at St. Christopher's Catholic Church (8150 Park Place Blvd, Houston, TX 77017) at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, August 1. Interment to follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
