I like to express my sincere sympathies to the family of Maria.  She will be missed as a counselor and educator in HISD.  May your hearts be lightened during this time.  Peace and Blessings, Counselor Greene, Garcia Elementary.

My deepest sympathies to Maria's loved ones.  Family was the most important thing for her and she spoke with great pride and so lovingly about the young women her daughters became. May your wonderful memories of her bring you peace and comfort in during this difficult time.  
I had the pleasure to work with Maria for many years as a teacher and counselor.  We quickly bonded of our shared love of Filemaker Pro, a database program that was so useful and easy to use that Maria once declared “If it were a man, I’d marry it!” We laughed a lot over the years and had some deep discussions about religion, politics, books, and so much more. Maria was one of the “Carrillo Boomerang Staff” returning to Carrillo after a few years away for maternity leave and to test the waters at another school.  
I admired Maria’s commitment to the students, her empathy, and her logical mind.     I respected her and counted on her to push back and provide me with another point of view.  I am so thankful I was able to work with her for long! Rest in peace my friend!


Ms. Alvarado will be missed in the Houston Independent School District. She was an advocate for students and school counselors. She served as a lead counselor mentor to many first-year counselors.   We will miss her greatly.

Please accept my sincerest sympathies on the loss of Maria.  Sending thoughts and prayers for healing and comfort to family and friends.

Through the years, whenever I've encountered Ms. Alvarado in HISD, she's always had the same sweet spirit and warm smile. She was a gem. My deepest condolences to your family and the Carrillo ES family, as well.

I would like to express my deepest condolences to your family during this trying time. As part of the H.I.S.D. counseling team, we have truly lost a gem. She was one of the most genuine, caring, and compassionate counselors that I had the pleasure of working with. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
