Maria “Gloria” Ybarra was born in Somerset, Texas, to Merced and Teodora Hernández. She lived life to the fullest, loved with all her heart, and brought warmth and joy to everyone fortunate enough to know her. Her strength, kindness, and laughter will forever be cherished and remembered.
Gloria’s love for dancing was no secret. It was on a dance floor at a military club in North Carolina, while visiting her sister, that she met the love of her life, Augustine Ybarra. After just three short months of dating, they married, beginning a beautiful journey together that lasted nearly 51 years.
Her faith was the foundation of her daily life. She devoted herself to the Lord and the Virgin Mary through teaching Sunday school, praying her novenas, and faithfully reciting the rosary.
Gloria’s greatest joy was her family, who will carry her memory in their hearts. She is survived by her husband, Augustine Ybarra; her daughters, Linda Ybarra-Marquez (Jose) and Maria Dolores Torres; and her beloved grandchildren, Adina Azul Ybarra, Anthony Augustine Ybarra, Isaac Alejandro Ybarra-Marquez, and Telesforo Torres V. She is also survived by her siblings, Jesus Hernández, Consuela Alfaro, and Santos H. Hernández.
She is reunited in heaven with her parents, Merced and Teodora Hernández; and her siblings, Clemente Hernández I, Manuela Hernández, Fermin Hernández Sr., Maria Elena Barrera, Maria Elisa Hernández, Ricardo Hernández, Isidoro Hernández Sr., Clemente Hernández, and Jose Hernández.
Gloria’s love, faith, and joyful spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
