

Born May 17, 1917 to Martha and Conway Holmes in Des Moines Iowa. Martha was known by her friends and family as Marty. Martha died peacefully in her sleep on May 8, 2011 she would have been 94 in just 10 more days. Martha grew up in Des Moines Iowa where she graduated from Roosevelt High School. She took drama classes and was in a number school plays. In the winter she enjoyed ice skating and most outdoor activities the rest of the year.
Martha was married for 55 years to Robert Grant Wall of Des Moines Iowa. They were married in the famous “Little Brown Church in the Vail” in Iowa. Marty and Robert loved going out dancing and made a very attractive couple. They were blessed with a wonderful son Robert Holmes Wall and two granddaughters Tammy Ann Wall and Sheri Lynn Martin who both live in Denver Colorado.
Robert was born in St Louis Missouri on September 3, 1943. Robert's father passed in 1991and Robert started looking after Martha for the next 19 years. After she broke her hip in 2009 Robert took care of Martha in her home full time for 2 years and 4 months until she passed. During this time she enjoyed being in her own home, on her couch, in her living room with lots of great meals served to her.
As a breast cancer survivor Martha maintained an independent and active life living in her own home till she passed. She liked gardening and working in her yard. She mowed her own yard and drove her own car about. When it was time she stopped driving and cut back on the yard work. Martha also enjoyed the company of her 2 dogs Zoe and Buddy.
Sanibel Island, the sea shell capital of the United States was one of her favorite vacation destinations. Martha took pleasure in making flower arrangements and pictures with sea shells. Martha and her husband also loved traveling to Europe and Canada.
As a Great cook she always prepared excellent meals for her family. As a treat she liked to make Rocky Road chocolate brownies. Everyone loved them and wanted a box of brownies to take home. Martha's recipe for Rocky Road Brownies is on the back.
Martha was loved dearly and will be missed by her friends and family.
