

Kate was born on August 7, 1953 in Cushing, OK and raised by Bernadette and Revis Carman. As a child, she lived in Oklahoma, Venezuela, and Missouri, before finally ending up in Texas.
She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Sam Houston State University and a Master's degree from the University of Houston. After which, she devoted her life to the service of others, spending more than 37 years working as a Speech Language Pathologist. Kate truly loved her job and the countless children and young adults she was able to help.
Outside of work, she was an Elvis enthusiast, book lover, and master of crossword puzzles. But, more than anything, she loved spending time with her family.
Kate is survived by her two sons, Justin Brooks and wife Courtney, and Matthew Brooks, granddaughter Emma, mother Bernadette Louise Carman, brother Jon Carman and wife Connie, niece Paige Kail and nephew Zane Carman, brother Ron Carman and wife Mary Jo, niece Marie Carlisle and nephew Russell Carman, and close friend of the family Mary Smith. She was preceded in death by her father, Revis Carman.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 26, 2021 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 11720 Joan of Arc, Houston, Texas 77024.
