Mary Louise Friery

Mary Louise was born in Palacios, Texas, on November 1, 1944 and graduated from Palacios High School in 1963. She attended Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, and was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority there. She graduated from SHSU with a BBA IN 1966. In 1969, she received her MBA from SHSU.

Mary Louise was a life long educator. She taught at Houston Community College, Angleton ISD, and Bay City ISD before moving to Aldine ISD in Houston in 1978. While at Aldine, she taught at Carver High School and then at Eisenhower High School. She taught Business as well as Vocational Office Education, bridging the gap between pencil and paper accounting and the computer age. She manned one of the first computer labs in the Aldine district until she retired in 1999. After retirement, Mary Louise served as a Panel Member and Officer for the Harris County Appraisal Review Board.

Mary Louise is survived by her nephew, Greg Kent and his family, her niece, Stacey Kent, several cousins and many devoted friends. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Tom and Mary Friery, as well as her beloved sister, Betty Ann Friery Kent.

Services for Mary Louise will be at the Forest Park Funeral Home at 6900 Lawndale Street in Houston at noon Saturday, February 18. Visitation will be from 10:00 am till 12:00 that same day. Graveside services will be at 1:00 following the services.

Mary Louise’s favorite charity was St. Jude’s Hospital for Children. Contributions in her name would be appreciated.
