

Mary Ann Johnson (Dunn), age 84, of Denton, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025, surrounded by daughter Julie and granddaughter Kayla, and her loving husband Steve and his two sons Stephen and Chris.
Born on January 18, 1941, in Tyler, Texas, Mary Ann was a beloved daughter of Mary Alice Dunn (Harris) and the eighth of nine children of Reverend William Dunn. Mary Ann was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was known for her youthful appearance, sense of style and her unwavering love for her family.
Mary Ann was an active member of the churches she attended while living in Humble, TX singing in the choir, participating in various activities and always helping decorate for the holidays. She loved being a member of the Plungettes Dance Team performing in local parades across the Texas Hill Country and being invited to attend George W. Bush’s Black Ties and Boots inauguration party in Washington, DC. Most recently, Mary Ann was a member of the Robson Ranch Women’s Club and a proud member of the LOL’s sharing lots of love, lots of laughs and lots of life with treasured friends.
Mary Ann loved to travel, especially with family. She introduced her husband Steve to cruising and they embarked on several river and ocean cruises. One of her final wishes was for a Johnson family cruise to Alaska which took place in July. She also travelled frequently with late husband Dave along with sister Jeanette and Charlie Hearn and brother Freeman and Nadine Dunn on many cruises and adventures.
Most of all Mary Ann loved her family. She loved being surrounded by family, cooking and entertaining for all types of family gatherings at home, at the lake, or anywhere family was gathered. Her family meant the world to her and she always wanted to be surrounded by those she loved.
She is survived by husband Steve, children and step-children: Jeff (Yasmine) Daugherty, Julie Daugherty, Stephen (Stacy) Johnson, Chris (Susan) Johnson, Derrick (Modesty) Johnson, Russ (Nancy) Carroll, Jeff (Carla) Carroll and grandchildren: Sarah, Alex, Lorin, Megan, Abby, Kayla, Sam, Callan, McKenna, Sara and Keenan along with ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her loving parents, her husband David Carroll, three sisters, five brothers and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral home, with visitation beginning at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, in honor of Mary Ann’s generous spirit.
Her legacy of love, strength, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
