

Sister Mary E. King was an only child born to the union of Walker and Myrtle Jacobs in Victoria, Texas. She move to Houston, Texas at the age of six years. Her education included Houston Public Schools, Brock Elementary School, Booker T. Washington (Class of 36) and Houston Negro College (Texas Southern University). She confessed to Christ at an early age and was baptized at Good Hope Baptist Church in Fourth Ward. She was the loving mother of three children from a previous marriage union. In 1970, Sister Mary King united with Damascus Baptist Church and on December 15, 1977 she married Deacon Leslie King. Sister King served faithfully on the Usher Board, (past) President of the Damascus Christian Union, attended Sunday School Bible Class, a member of the Deacon and Trustee Wives' Association. Sister King retired from MacGregor Medical Association in 1984 as an Assistant Physical Therapist. She was preceded in death by her husband Deacon Leslie King and her parents. Sister King leaves to cherish her memory daughter Ivory J. Bullard; son-in-law Virgil; son Dr. Lonnie H. Norris and wife Dr. Donna; son Richard Mitchell, Jr. and wife Sheila; five grandchildren, Marlaina Norris, Reginald and wife Belinda Bullard, Michael Norris, Rosilyn Bullard and husband Marcus and Richelle Mitchell. Sister King has seven great grandchildren, Zachary, Hallie, Kathlyn, Micah, Chazz, Savannah, Zavier other relatives and friends.
