Melba Marie Morris Walden

Melba Marie Walden, known during her working career as “Sunshine”, went home on Friday, August 20, 2010. She was born July 9, 1918 to Joseph and Mary Morris in Lingerville, Texas. Mrs. Walden was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Thomas E. Walden, Jr. She is survived by son, Thomas J. Walden, Sr.; grandchildren, Emily Walden Pedersen and husband, Luke, and Thomas J. Walden, Jr. and their mother, Donna Rudd Walden; great-grandson, Asher Kristian Pedersen; nieces, Judy Walden Stipp and husband, Louis, and Laquita Carr and husband, Edwin, and by other family and friends. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Theresa Vicroy, her caregivers, and members of the nursing staff of Methodist Hospital, 7th and 12th floors, for their care and consideration.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 23, 2010 at Heights Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at First Baptist Church Heights, 201 East 9th Street, Houston, Texas 77007. Interment will follow in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, Houston, Texas. Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Cates, Clint Horne, Gilbert Froehlick, Phil Faterkowski, Bill Roberts, and Louis Stipp.
