Michael A. Battise was the youngest of six children born August 25, 1952 to the late David John and Ida Mae Battise of Hitchcock, Texas. He moved to La Porte Texas where he attended La Porte High School and graduated in 1970. Upon graduating, Michael moved to Houston, Texas and worked at a chemical plant for many years. In 1974, he married the former Carolyn Singleton. The couple raised two children. Michael was a dedicated father, raising his children to be the best they can be, and to trust and believe in the Lord. During this time, Michael found his true calling, as a Firefighter. Michael was a member of Cloverleaf Volunteer Fire Department for twenty-nine years. He served in a number of elected positions, including Captain, Assistant Chief and Chief. He served as Chief for eleven years. Under his leadership and tutelage, the Department transitioned very smoothly from an all-Volunteer Fire Department to a combination department with Volunteer and Paid Personnel. His administrative skills were not only beneficial to the Fire Department, but were useful at the Harris County Fire Fighter's Association. He was elected to and served in many chair positions for Harris County Firefighter's Association. In 2007, Michael was elected "Firefighter of the Year". He also served on the Board of Managers for the North Channel Emergency Medical Service. Michael was later elected to one of the seats on the Emergency Services District #6 Board. However, due to failing health, he resigned from his positions. With his career behind him, Michael took time to focus on the things that he loved: his family, cooking, fishing, playing dominoes and spending time in the country. Michael was a man of many skills and talents. His ability to bring a smile to the faces of his colleagues and those he love was his greatest asset. He was always there to lend a helping hand, give sound advice and was the pillar of his extended family. He took great pride in all he did and encouraged others to achieve greatness by saying "Do It Right The First Time." Michael's parents and four siblings preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife Carolyn Battise, a devoted daughter Michelle Battise of Houston, Texas, son Joseph Battise of Houston, brother David Battise of Baytown, Texas, grandson Christopher Battise of Waco, Texas, great granddaughter Morgan Michelle Battise , great grandson Caden Battise of Waco, Texas along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
