Michael Francis Milward

Michael “Mike” Milward passed away peacefully at home after a brave fight against cancer on Thursday May 18, 2023. Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, he was the son of Robert Milward and Frances Klein Milward. He was greatly loved by everyone in his life and is missed dearly.

He enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 17 and served his country courageously for 4 years. After his honorable discharge, he moved to Houston, Texas, which he called home for many years. He met his wife, Terri Sopczak, at a friend’s party and went on their first date on May 18, 1983. They were then married on February 14, 1992. Together, Mike and Terri enjoyed AKC Schutzhund training with their many German Shepherds and Rottweilers. Mountain biking, hunting, and camping were among his other favorite hobbies. He owned his own company, KATEX Services Inc., in Katy, TX, and later moved to Pahrump, NV and worked at the MSTS at Nevada Test Site for 18 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Bob, and his sister Margie. Mike is survived by his wife; his sister, Lorri Milward; his sister-in-law, Sheri Eige, and husband Ken; nieces, Erica Eige, Ginni Seale and husband Michael, and Melissa Milward; nephews David and Matt Nieuwendaal; great nieces, McKinzie Blissit, Katlyn Howard, Cassidy and Callie Seale, Grace and Abigail Nieuwendaal; and great nephew Eric Nieuwendaal.

A visitation for Michael will be held Monday, May 29, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home. A funeral service will occur Monday, May 29, 2023 at 11:00 AM. A committal service will occur Monday, May 29, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
