It is with heavy hearts, yet immense gratitude for a life well-lived, that we announce the peaceful passing of Myrtle Pierce, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, on the 24th of March 2026. Myrtle departed this world gently in her sleep, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She was 88 years old. Born on September 10, 1937, in Wilmington, North Carolina, Myrtle was the cherished daughter of Luther and Addie Cameron. Her life was a tapestry of devotion and kindness, always woven with the threads of family, love, and community. Raised with her sister, Kitty, Myrtle's early years were spent exploring the beauty of Wilmington, fostering a deep connection to the place she proudly called home. Myrtle was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John R. Pierce, with whom she shared a beautiful partnership that spanned decades. Together, they built a life rich in love and unity, nurturing a family that would become her greatest joy. Her daughter, Wendy Parrish, also predeceased her, but Myrtle's strength and spirit served as a beacon of resilience for her family during times of loss.
Surrounded by the love of her surviving family, Myrtle is deeply mourned by her sister, Kitty, whose bond with Myrtle was both steadfast and tender. Her sons, John (affectionately known as Buzzy) and Michael, along with his wife Manette, will forever carry the wisdom and warmth imparted by their mother. Myrtle's heart was always open, especially to her grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter in the lives of Josh, Katie, Brooke and her husband Pete, Justin, Bradley, Rose, Kalynn and her husband Chris, Rachel and her husband Jordan, and Kathryn. Her great-grandchildren, Adam, Blake, Jane, Hayden, Margaret (Maggie), and Mason, were her pride and joy, each holding a special place in her heart.
A devoted wife and grandmother, Myrtle's greatest passion was her family. She found endless delight in spending time with her grandchildren, each moment shared becoming a precious memory. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth, where laughter echoed and love resided. Each holiday gathering, birthday celebration, and quiet afternoon spent together was a testament to her unwavering devotion to those she loved. Myrtle Pierce’s life was a testament to the power of love, family, and the quiet joys of simple pleasures. As we say goodbye, we celebrate a woman who taught us the true meaning of strength, compassion, and grace. Her legacy will continue to inspire us, reminding us always to cherish each moment and love deeply.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 3, 2026, in Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038, Mr. Gary R. Smith, officiating.
