Nancy Laverne Roberts, 88, of Houston, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018. She was born on August 4, 1929 in Alief, Texas to the late Ernest Hassell and Roxie Bagwell Hassell. She was raised “in the country” with her brother Sonny and
four sisters – Juanita, Lenore, Lil, and BeBe. After graduating from high school she married her husband in 1948, and they moved to Houston where she worked for American General Insurance Co. Together they raised two children, owned and
managed House of Steaks restaurant, and enjoyed a long retirement together until his death in 2008. She was a long-time resident of the Timbergrove area and a member of Lazybrook Baptist Church for over 55 years. She spent her life devoted to her husband and her family, and she enjoyed the company of many close neighbors and church friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, three of her four sisters and her brother, and by her husband of 60 years Earl K. Roberts. She is survived by sister Juanita Wallace; daughter Terri Luneau and husband David; and son Randy Roberts and wife Cori. She leaves four grandchildren - Andrea Luneau Sellew (Tony), Kevin Luneau, Cole Roberts, and Evan Roberts. Her four great-grandchildren (Carolina Davis, Carter Sellew, Macy Sellew, and Allie Sellew) will cherish her memory. Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 4 from 5-7 p.m. at Heights Funeral Home, 1317 Heights Blvd. A family graveside service will be held at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, Thursday, April 5 at 10a.m. will be followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:30 a.m. at Lazybrook Baptist Church, 1822 W 18th Street, Houston, Texas 77008.
