Nieves G. Reyes

Nieves was born in New Braunfels, Texas in 1935 and moved to Houston, Texas in 1945, with her parents, Trinidad and Maria Perez. As a teenager Nieves, worked as a volunteer at St. Joseph’s Hospital in downtown Houston, Texas. With the guidance of Sister Evangeline, Nieves accomplished her dreams of becoming a nurse. After 30 years of tenure, Nieves retired on February 5,1999, from St. Joseph’s Hospital.

Nieves enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, and shopping and watching old western movies.

Nieves was married to Reynaldo Reyes in 1969, thru April 17, 2001, the day he left this earth. She had seven children; her son, Carlos Tamez; her daughter, Evangelina Tamez; her daughter, Virginia Waters (Tillman); her son, Rene Bara Reyes (Graciela); her daughter, Isabel Reyes Diaz (Ronnie); her son, Jose Miguel Reyes (Dianne); her son, Rudy Reyes; and stepchildren, Reynaldo Reyes II, Rene Reyes, Ramiro Reyes and Veronica Rodriguez. 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

While our hearts are broken, we have comfort knowing Mom is joined by Dad in Heaven after 21 years of being apart.

A visitation for Nieves will be held Friday, February 11, 2022 at 10:00 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Forest Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A graveside service will occur Friday, February 11, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.
