Sunrise in the life of Northern "Sonny" Arrow, Jr. took place on March 18, 1934. He was born to the late Northern Arrow Sr. and Wilma Arrow Dorsey. Educated in the Aldine Independent School District, he graduated from Carver High School and attended Texas Southern University. In 1953, he was drafted into the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1959. Following his military career, he worked for the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 1995. Northern was the loving father of his only child, Martha Arrow, who was born during his marriage to Harriet O'Rourke. As a man of great faith, Sonny loved God with all his heart and exercised his faith as a charter member of the Progressive Missionary Baptist Church. In 1998, in obedience to the move of God in his life, he joined the Cathedral of Faith Church and was a dedicated member of the choir, Sunday School, Men's Ministry, Vacation Bible School, Building Services Ministry, and the Culinary Ministry. He was fun-loving and young at heart and was always a part of anything that had to do with children. Sonny truly loved his pastor and his church family. Northern was preceded in death by his parents, Northern Arrow Sr. and Wilma Arrow Dorsey; brother, Wilton Wills; sisters Madelyn Crawford and Gazette DeWalt, and his adored niece Madelyn Bartley. Left to treasure his memory are his daughter Martha Arrow; brother Charles "Jordan" Arrow; sisters, Sammie Ruth Wilson, Judy Mayfield-Scott (Jimmie), devoted niece, Cassandra Anderson and a beloved nephew, Sterling "Shaggy" Arrow (who he loved like a son), along with loving nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.
