

She worked as a Park Director at Eastwood Park with the City of Houston Parks & Recreation department for over 25 years and retired in 2000.
She was actively involved with family life and enjoying the retired years with her husband. She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, taking time to learn new recipes, and escaping on Friday’s occasional short trips to Louisiana to partake in her love of slot machines. Everywhere Tillie went, she was sure to meet new people and develop friendships.
She is preceded in death by her parents Ramon and Rita Zepeda, sisters, Rita Alaniz, and Victoria Celaya, brothers, Tiburcio Zepeda, Candelario Zepeda, Jesus Zepeda, Arturo Zepeda and daughter in law, Yvonne B. Ortiz.
She is survived by her sister Herminia Hernandez, her husband, Antonio Ortiz of 64 years, Children, Robert A. Ortiz and wife Gloria Ortiz, Priscilla Olivier-Chapa and husband Michael Chapa, Eli Ortiz, Diana Ortiz and Monica D. Ortiz. Grandchildren, Vanessa M. Ortiz, Richard J. Olivier IV and wife Natalia Olivier, Robert A. Ortiz II, Mia N. Olivier, Kimberly M. Cantu and husband Cesar Cantu, Elisa D. Ortega, Anne E. Ortiz, Kaitlin T. Richards-Ortiz, Matthew R. Ortega and Luke A. Ortega. Great Grandchildren, Joshua J. Rone, Aubrey L. Rone, Sofia K. Sosa and Emmanuel A. Ortiz.
The family would like to thank Elisa “Ellie” Ortega for the care and compassion she showed our mom during her illness and in her final days. Ellie loved her grandma, and she made every day a good day with our mom.
A visitation for Otilia will be held Monday, January 15, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM. A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, January 16, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 8150 Park Pl Blvd, Houston, TX 77017. A committal service will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.
