He grew up in Inman, Kansas, where he completed his schooling at Inman Elementary and High Schools. Upon graduation he attended Tabor College, but undecided about what he wanted to do, he left school and entered the National Guard where he trained as a medic. After joining the Army and being stationed in Nuremberg, Germany for two years, he was called into the first Gulf War and served in Kuwait. He returned to the States, and completed his Army term at Fort Drum in Watertown, New York. Upon discharge, he went back to school and in 1995, graduated from Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas, with a degree in biology and four hours short of a second degree in chemistry. When he had difficulty finding work in Kansas, he moved to Houston where his sister, Margaret lived. He eventually found work at an EPA testing lab and remained there until his death.
Paul was a long-time member of Houston Mennonite Church and served there faithfully. His passion was the Christmas Choir which he organized and chose music for each year. He will be missed greatly by his family, friends and his church.
Paul is preceded in death by his father, Henry Siemens, and brother-in-law, David Mottino. He is survived by his mother, Joan Siemens of Inman, Kansas, sister Margaret and husband Gerald Gehman of Houston, Texas, sister Diane Ziemer of Hutchinson, Kansas, and sister Rachel Mottino of Amarillo, Texas, as well as seven nieces and nephews and six grand-nieces and nephews.
A memorial service honoring Paul, was held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at Houston Mennonite Church, 1231 Wirt Rd. in Houston, with Pastor Marty Troyer, officiating.
