October 19, 1937 - March 20, 2015
Pedro Ramiro Buentello, Sr. died peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2015.
He was born on October 19, 1937 in Villa de Garcia, Monterrey, Mexico to Jose Juan Buentello and Victoriana Guerrero Buentello (both preceded in death). He was the youngest of seven siblings: Jose Juan, Encarnacion, Ramon, Felipe, Maria, and Eutimia; all preceded in death, except for Felipe and Eutimia.
At the age of seventeen he came to the United States in hopes of a better life; at nineteen, he met and married Maria Santos Camacho in 1957. They celebrated thirty six years together before her death in 1993. He was father to six children: Pedro Ramiro Buentello, Jr., Mary Elizabeth Chavez, Esther Buentello Flores, Richard Buentello (preceded in death), Robert Buentello, and Daniel Buentello. He was father-in-law to: Virginia Buentello, Aaron Chavez, Patrick Flores, Stella Buentello, and Vanessa Buentello. He was grandfather to: Vincent, Carolina (preceded in death), Elizabeth, Erica Maria, Christopher, Laura, Erica Ann, Veronica, Monica, Angelica, Joshua, Nathaniel, Jesse, and Jimmy. He was great-grandfather to: Vincent, Jr., Christopher, Lexie, Jacob, Mia, Isaiah, Amanda, Xavier, and Sophia.
He learned English by reading the newspaper, but he preferred speaking Spanish. In 1994, Pedro Ramiro Buentello, Sr. became a U.S. Citizen, after studying for the exam, something of which he was very proud. He loved to say, “I am a U.S. Citizen.”
In 2012, he retired after 50 years of dedicated service at Industrial Metal Finishing, where he worked as a plater performing intricate and detailed work. He loved his job and took great pride in saying he was a plater, retiring only after his health was a concern.
His greatest joys in life were playing the lottery, drinking beer whenever possible, fishing, and spending time with his dogs. His devoted companions: Chico, Samuel, and Rambo, kept him company and loved him unconditionally. Recently after acquiring a passport, he hoped to travel to Mexico to see family, but cancelled when one of his beloved dogs became ill and required surgery.
He leaves behind a legacy of loving children, who are grateful for the memories of funny stories about him and the opportunities to have learned patience, compassion for others, and an appreciation for family. He will be missed and forever loved. We find comfort in knowing he is resting peacefully, now with his beloved wife, Maria Santos, with his beloved son, Richard, granddaughter, Carolina, and his dogs (Honey Bear and Frenchie) who preceded him in death.
Special thanks to all the caring doctors and nurses at Memorial Hermann Hospital and Paramount Rehabilitation Center who took such excellent care of him.
