R. D. “Jitterbug” Gainer, age 78, passed away Friday, January 20, 2017. He retired from Houston Police Department after 25 years of service. Raymond was a member of the National Guard during the Berlin conflict. Jitterbug was a loving family man who enjoyed the outdoors and hunting. He was preceded in death by his son, Keith Ray Gainer; parents, Hubert and Alta Mae Gainer; and brothers, Kennith Gainer, Kermit Gainer and Donald Gainer. Survived by his wife of 56 years, Virginia Gainer; son, Kevin Gainer and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Mitchell Gainer and wife Aly, Kindell Gainer and fiancé Jeremy Kiper, Jami’Lee Guillory, and Skilynn Guillory; brother, Bob Gainer; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 23, 2017 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2017 in the Chapel of Earthman Resthaven. Interment will follow at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery.
