

On April 26, 1945, Ray Floyd Pryor was born to Robert and Nordine Pryor in Houston, Texas. He was the oldest of three children. During his earlier years, he attended Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. Ray attended Eighth Avenue Elementary, Harper Junior High, Booker T. Washington High School, and Texas Southern University (TSU) for one year before he was drafted into the Army. He was stationed in Minnesota as a Military Policeman. He received several medals and badges: National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (1st Award), Marksman Badge (Rifle M-14) and Marksman Badge (Pistol.45). After his military career ended, he returned to Houston and was employed at Grocers Supply Company. Ray never married, and he did not have any children. After he retired, he lived a quiet life. He was a man of few words, but he loved his family and there was nothing that he would not do for them. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Nordine Pryor. Those left behind to cherish his memories are: two sisters, Jessie Perro (Lionel), Rosemary Shepherd (Johnie); a nephew, Derric D. Pryor; two nieces, Nichelle Beard (James), Demetria Allen (Terrance); two grandnieces, Jessica, Cleashaybia; three grand nephews, Robert, Ethan, Kristopher and a host of relatives and friends.
