Richard graduated from Reagan High School and attended the University of Houston, where he obtained a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He enjoyed a long career as a Licensed Professional Engineer in the oil industry.
After retiring at age 70, Richard obtained his certification as a Texas Master Gardener. Through the years, Richard participated in a number of organizations such as the Houston Orchid Society, the Boy Scouts of America (Troop Leader), the American Solar Energy Society, the Electric Auto Association, and the Houston Area Woodcarvers Club.
Richard was an active member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. Over the past few years, one of his favorite tasks was to assist the school children at St. Mark Lutheran School with planting a garden on the school grounds.
Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Marie Lund. He is survived by his mother, Blanche Lund; daughter, Elizabeth Lund; son, Earl Lund, his wife Karen and their children, Shelby, Bailey and Brandon; son, Keith Lund, his wife Jessica and their daughter, Valerie; and a sister, Blanche Farnam.
Family and friends will gather at a visitation from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 13th at Waltrip Funeral Directors, 1415 Campbell Road in Houston. Funeral services, led by The Reverend Timothy Duerr, will begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 14th in the sanctuary of St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1515 Hillendahl Houston, Texas 77055. Graveside services and interment will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale.
