Bob was one of the greatest people I ever met. Never had anything bad to say about anyone. He was always smiling, especially when you mentioned his Longhorns. A 20 year friend, you will be missed by many my friend!

Bob was a good friend even if I only knew him for a few years. I was able to help him when he brought round bales to LHP. He liked to kid around and give me a hard time. But he could take it in kind. I miss him, we all will. Gib

It is hard to know where to begin...
How do you express on a page how much someone touches your life and the heartache you feel when you know you won't see them again?
  
When our daughter was accepted into the longhorn project 3 years ago, We met Bob King and immediately knew we had made a new friend. He was just so thoughtful and genuine, his kind spirit was contagious, and you just looked forward to being around him.  
He would go to every one of their longhorn shows and offer words of encouragement, advice, a helping hand or a joke.  He loved all of those kids and they all loved him!  

There are some people who come into your life and you KNOW your life is much richer having known them and Bob King was that man to our family and especially to our daughter.  
In our hearts we will always remember Longhorns, Trailsend and our Cowboy Mr. King!

Over the past three years Mr. King had become like a grandpa to me.  He continually supported me in all of my efforts and was at almost every stock show that we went to.  I would always look forward to seeing him and catching up.  He was one of the best people I have ever met and I believe he helped shape me into who I am today.  We have all been blessed to have known Mr. King. Unfortunately, the longhorn project will not be the same without him.

 In June 2014 our paths crossed again at our 50th high school class reunion. On June 20, 2014 Bob took a risk and wrote me a letter....extending an invitation to spend some time taking in the sights, sounds, and tastes of Texas. Little did we know our class reunion would lead to a special friendship, falling in love, and beginning a short journey of a lifetime.  From the beginning I called him "Cowboy" and later told him he was the man who captured my heart. I admired the man he had become and understood his passion for life. He was confident, yet humble. He simply did the most with what he did best. Celebrating a beautiful life. With a grateful heart, Donna.

Words can not express the loss that the longhorn association received when we got the news that THE "Mr. King" had passed away. What a kind soul!!!! It is amazing the strength that he had, and the strength that he passed on to the kids and parents. I will miss him dearly, and he will forever hold a special place in my heart!

From my very first meeting with Mr. King,we could talk about Ohio.  He totally understood where I was coming from.  He had the innate ability to make me feel at ease, even when my world was turned upside down. He always told me that I would eventually be happier in Texas and he would make sure to always point out all the good things about his great' state. In the fall, he would remind me of our nice weather (to which I would remind him of the mosquitoes).  He took such an interest and cared so much for each of us in the project, which he showed, not just with words, but also with his time and efforts. He never failed to show up at the team's shows, never failed to bring us hay when we were low, never failed to go to dinner with the team at our shows and never failed to give us encouragement when we needed it. In return we never failed to appreciate and love him for everything he was to us; he was our cowboy.

Mr. King was one of those people that when you saw him, there would be a big smile on your face. I remember him always having a camera at the shows and he would be taking pictures of the kids in the arena as well as trying to catch us sleeping away in random places. You couldn't find Mr. King without that camera on him. Mr. King is a kind, wonderful and generous man and so much more. He will be truly missed not just with his friends and family, but also with anyone that has had the privilege to know such a terrific man. Thank you again for all your help throughout the time I've known you. Don't forget to take pictures of Heaven. Thank you again and we all love you dearly.

Mr. King was instrumental in the lives of all of the kids that are, or were, a part of the Longhorn Project at NASA. He did all he could to support us from driving long hours to bring us hay to being at all the Longhorn shows that he was able to attend. When I think of Mr. King I see a man that was gracious, a lover of life, a true gentleman, and a selfless man. I will always remember Mr. King and the lasting impression he has left on me.

There are so many wonderful things that we could say about Bob.  We could say that he was always there for our children at their Longhorn Shows.  We could say that he never failed to supply us with hay for our animals.  We could say that he was dependable, honest, hardworking and never afraid of a challenge.  But I think what we should say is that he was like a grandfather to so many of the students in the NASA Longhorn Project. He was loved by all of us and we will miss him terribly.  Bob King was truly one of the best people I have ever known.  I am so thankful that I had the privilege and honor of knowing him!

Mr. King was important in the lives of many children in the NASA Longhorn Project, including our daughter Felice (2013-2014).  We are grateful and he is missed.

"Mr. King," as I will always affectionately remember him, was one of the last true gentleman cowboys of the Texas. He loved life, nature, his herd, family, and the young people who wanted to learn the ropes of taking care of longhorns. He traveled miles to see their shows, always with a smile and encouragement. His enthusiasm was contagious. Anyone could tell he loved his "babies!" Thank you, Mr. King, for all you've done for my daughter, Katie, her steer, Mooyah, and so many other FFA/Longhorn program participants. You will be missed greatly. I just know you're having fun, wrangling the heavenly herd with friends gone by! Until we meet again...

I cannot thank Bob King enough for what he did for my daughter, Katie, and the rest of the kids in the Longhorn Project at NASA over the years. You would have to look long and far, high and low to find a kinder, more generous man. Happy Trails!
