In the year of 1961 on the 20th day of July... A handsome baby boy named Robert Lee Powell was born to Willie Powell, Sr. and Para Lee Washington Powell in Fulshear, Texas, the youngest of five children. At an early age, Robert accepted Christ into his life a Zion Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Fulshear, Texas under the leadership of his father, Pastor Willie Powell, Sr. His favorite scripture was: And we know all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose. - Romans 8:28 Robert attended school in Pattison, Texas in Royal Independent School District. He worked on a farm with his father during his younger years. In 1981, he moved to Houston, Texas. Robert enjoyed working as a truck driver for more than 25 years. He will be remembered for being a devoted husband and father with a wonderful sense of humor. On the 11th day of January 2001, he was united in Holy matrimony to the love of his life, Loretha Jones. The family consists of four boys: Jarrid Jones, Robert Powell, Jr., Brandon Jones and Joshua Powell. Robert is preceded in death by his parents Willie Powell, Sr. and Para Lee Washington Powell; sister Carolyn Lemons and father-in-law Billy Brewer. He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted wife of 16 years Loretha Jones-Powell; four children Jarrid Jones (Cheri), Robert Powell, Jr. (Shane), Brandon Jones and Joshua Powell; four grandchildren Savion, Amare, Kaydence and Elijah; siblings Willie Powell, Jr. (Loretta) of Fulshear, Texas, Cherry Powell of Houston, Texas, Linda Virgil of Richmond, Texas; mother-in-law Bobbie Brewer; one brother-in-law Bobby Jones; two sisters-in-law Sonya McDonald and DeShaun Brewer. He also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
