Rosemary was born on November 25, 1939, in Stuttgart, Arkansas, to Lawrence and Maisie Fischer. She graduated from high school in DeWitt, Arkansas, then married Robert Greer and moved to Texas. They moved throughout Louisiana and Texas following Robert’s job, and ended up settling in Dayton, Texas, with their five daughters.
In 1977, Rosemary married Larry Braswell, a drilling engineer and true gentleman cowboy. Larry was a real trooper in marrying a woman with five daughters and was a devoted stepfather until he passed away two years ago.
Rosemary is survived by her daughters Traci Greer Hoekstra (and Richard), Lisa Greer (and Keith), Phyllis Greer Ford (and Kevin), Amy Greer Hoffpauir (and Gerald), and Jana Greer Ivy (and Shay). She also leaves grandchildren Trey Roach, Rosemary Roach, Jonathan Hoekstra, Christopher Hoekstra, Matthew Abel, P J Landrum, Samuel Groce, Adam Groce, Amber Krise, Devin Ford, Aubrey Ford, Jamie Jones, Jacob Pate, Cooper Pate, Torrey Reeves, and Jax Ivy, as well as fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish her memory her sister Margaret Carver, brother Jerry Fischer, and a host of loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Larry Braswell, her parents Lawrence and Maisie Fischer, and her siblings Carl Fischer, William Fischer, Roberta Uhiren, Robert Fischer, Kenny Fischer, and Kathy Fortenberry.
Rosemary worked as a secretary for a number of organizations in her younger years, where her bubbly personality and kind nature always won her friends. She grew up poor but happy, taught to cherish and respect her siblings and extended family. Those strong family bonds lasted a lifetime and were passed down to her children and grandchildren.
Words cannot express how much Rosemary will be missed. Heartfelt thanks are extended by her daughters to all the kind and compassionate caregivers and hospice nurses who cared for their Mom during her various stages of dementia, with special thanks to Heather Gonzalez for making her last days special ones. Most importantly, Traci, Lisa, Phyllis and Jana will forever be grateful to their sister Amy and her husband Gerald for all the loving care and devotion over the years as their sweet Mom’s primary caregivers.
Funeral services will be at 1:00pm on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, Texas, with interment and dinner reception to follow.
