Roy Lemuel Vernon, 86, passed into the arms of his Lord, Jesus on March 29, 2011. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, of 52 years, Reta Dawes Vernon and his stepson, Rick Huge. He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Jane Huge Vernon, sons, Roger Vernon and his wife Susan, Russell Vernon and his wife Phyllis, stepdaughter, Su Heaslet and her husband Don. He also leaves behind three grandchildren (Ches, Kim, Jessica) and six great-grandchildren (Sarah, Cristian, Max, Austin, Bryant, Colton).
He worked for Exxon Production Research Company for 27 years. He had a love of music and especially the banjo. He shared his talent with several bands throughout the course of many years.
Memorial services will be at 2 pm on April 1, 2011, at Memorial Drive Christian Church, 11750 Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77024, (713) 789-0060.
