

Ruth Kincaid Lange, age 88, passed away Friday, December 14, 2012 at Park Manor Nursing Home in The Woodlands, Texas. Born February 27, 1924 at home in the country community of Indian Point in Menard County, Illinois. She graduated from Indian Point Superior Grade School, Athens Community High School, Springfield Junior College and Washington University in St. Louis, and School of Nursing in 1947 with a BSN. She performed nursing in hospitals in New Orleans, LA, San Bernardino, CA, Oakland, CA, and the Naval Hospital in San Diego, CA. At the end of her active duty in the Navy, she married Robert Lange whom she had met in St. Louis, and they made their home in Portland Oregon for 50 years. They started the Lewis and Clark Foundation and published "We Proceeded On" quarterly magazine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lange; her parents, J. Earle and Jessie Kincaid; brother, John; sister, Eleanor; and foster sister, Emily Bradley Cadmus. Survived by nephew, Dale Kincaid and wife Janet of The Woodlands, Texas and their sons, Michael and Scott; niece, Cathy Twyman of Springfield, Illinois; nephew, Dennis Markey of Phoenix, Arizona; niece, Mary Ellen Geary and her sons, Christopher and Sean; niece, Susan and Sam Lewis and their children, Sarah and Andrew of Stillwater, Minnesota; and nephew, Robert and Mary Lange of Madison Wisconsin and their children Morgan and Taylor.
