

Wilella Reese Kimble, age 84 went to be with the Lord on February 25, 2016. She was born to the late Eldridge L. Reese Sr and Sadie Geneva Thomas Reese, on August 30, 1931. Sis Kimble attended Gregory and Bruce Elementary Schools and Phillis Wheatley High School. She furthered her education at Howard University and Texas Southern University where she earned Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Elementary Education degrees. Sis Kimble was married to the late Rev. Crawford W. Kimble. Former pastor of Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church. She was an active lifelong member of Good Hope Missionary Baptist church, often playing the piano as needed. In addition to being a First Lady, her Christian journey included participation in several church organizations which included Starlight Band, Sunday school, Baptist Training Union, Vacation Bible School, Prayer Meeting, Senior Mission II, Senior Choir, Senior Adult Ministry, Hand Bell choir and Deacons, Trustee & Ministers Conference. Most of all she was a faithful child of God. She served the community as one of the 6 founding members of a Food Bank at Pilgrim Congregational Church. Food was distributed to those in need on the last Saturday of the month until the government food stamp program began. Sis Kimble is survived by her daughter Sheila Keys (Curtis), grandchildren (Kristin, Curtis II and Evan). She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends.. The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last few months. A special thanks to Ms. Barbara Glen who was more than a caretaker but went above and beyond as a family friend. Services are Thursday, March 3rd at 11 am at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 3015 N MacGregor Way Houston Texas 77004. Viewing will be from 9 am – 10:45 am.
