Sarah Katherine Goodell

Sarah Katherine Wright Goodell (Granny, GaGa) died peacefully with her daughters by her side on Saturday the 17th of August 2019, at her home in Deer Park, Texas at the age of 80. She was a much beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed by all.

Sarah was born on June 24, 1939, in Swainsboro, Georgia to Pete Stanford Wright and Celeste Flanders Wright .

Sarah moved to Beaumont, TX as a child where she attended school. While in High School she worked at Dairy Queen where she met her future husband Willard Ray Goodell. They married in 1956 and after a few years settled in Deer Park. The couple celebrated 54 years of marriage before Ray passed away in 2010. During their marriage they had 2 children, 1 Grandchild and 4 Great Grandchildren.

Sarah was an amazing Mother and Caregiver to many. She dedicated much of her life to caring for others including her father-in-law, stepfather, mother, mother-in-law and husband in their final years. Sarah also helped raise her granddaughter Brooke. She often thought of Brooke as a 3rd daughter. Her level of love and compassion was only enhanced with the addition of her 4 Great Grandchildren. Sarah worked many jobs over the years but ultimately retired from DPISD Transportation Department. She was also an accomplished seamstress, homemaker and one of the top female novice motorcycle trials riders with STTA.

Sarah was the middle of 3 children, oldest brother John D. Wright (deceased) and his wife Marilyn, youngest surviving brother Ray S. Wright and wife Vivian.

Some of Sarah’s passions included travel and shopping, but there was no greater passion than the love for her family.

Sarah joins her husband Ray in her passing and is survived by; daughter Tamara Rae Tackett (John); daughter Tiffany K. Goodell; granddaughter Brooke Smith (James); great grandchildren; Kayleigh Cheyenne Dalton, Bo Riley Ray Smith, Brody Tyler Smith & Riddick Jay (Pickle) Smith.
