Simon Michael Garcia Sr.

Simon Michael Garcia Sr. was born April 25, 1967, and entered eternal rest on February 13, 2024. He’s preceded in death by his grandmother, Rosa O. Garcia; mother, Maria A. Elias; sister, Julia A. Gonzalez; niece, Jennifer A. Gonzalez; and nephew, Jacob A. Gonzalez.

Simon leaves behind to cherish his memory wife, Norma L. Garcia; daughter, Krystal M. Smith (Son-in-Law, Benjamin S. Smith); sons Simon M. Garcia Jr., Steven A. Garcia, Nicholas R. Garcia; sisters Melinda Garcia, Elizabeth Garcia, Georgia Gloria (Brother-in-law, Nick Gloria), Adrienna Elias; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. “BANANA!”

Simon was born and raised in Houston, TX. He was proud of his city and its sports teams, frequently using Astros/Texans games as an opportunity to grill. He was an avid collector, from figures to trading cards, comics to memorabilia. He had an infectious smile and a remarkable ability to turn any moment into an inappropriately timed joke. He often claimed he suffered from Peter Pan Syndrome because he refused to grow-up. While he joked about his immaturity, he never shied from responsibility. He was a pillar of support to those around him. Simon’s generosity knew no bounds and the impact he made could not be measured. He was a man of truth and candor, never hesitant to tell it like it is. These characteristics not only defined Simon’s parenting style but also forged lasting connections with those he encountered. His authenticity and wisdom left an endearing mark on those he cared for. Simon has left a legacy of love, compassion, loyalty, and adventure that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His journey on this earth may have come to an end but his spirit and influence will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those he touched.

A visitation for Simon will be held Wednesday, February 21, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023. A funeral service will occur Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 6921 Chetwood Dr, Houston, TX 77081. A committal service will occur Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery, 6900 Lawndale Street, Houston, TX 77023.
