Teodoro Rivas Sosa, age 88, of Houston, Texas passed into eternal rest on Sunday, September 5, 2021. Teodoro was born November 9, 1932 in El Rancho Soliseno, Matamoros, Mexico to Dolores Rivas and Canuto Sosa.
Teodoro was the fourth of 9 children of Canuto Sosa and Dolores Rivas. He grew up working on the ranch and in his late teens he came to work in the United States. Around this time he met his wife, Guadalupe, and they married on May 1st, 1955, in Cameron County, Texas. On March 25th, 1956 they had their first of ten children, Zulema, and moved to Houston in 1958. Teodoro will be remembered as a very hard working man who always provided for his family and helped whomever he could. After retirement, he enjoyed spending time outside in the garden, feeding the birds and listening to his music. Most of all he loved spending time with his family eating, drinking and joking around.
Teodoro is preceded in death by his parents Canuto Sosa and Dolores Rivas; brothers, Jeronimo and Benito; sisters, Hermelinda and Elissa; children, Salvador, Zulema, Silvestre, and Teodoro Jr.
Left to cherish his memory is spouse Guadalupe Maria Rangel Sosa; children, Sandra Tamez, Sofia Rodriguez, Susana Vela, Santiago Sosa, Lupe Sosa and Amado Sosa; 28 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings, Juany Saldivar, Angel Sosa and Domingo Sosa.
You will be missed and we're all blessed to have had such a great man at the head of our family. "Say not in grief, 'he is no more', but in thankfulness that he was."
