I was so saddened to hear of this only today, Oct 23rd.  I pray God will give you all the strength to go through this hard time.  We will all miss Tommy very much. I enjoyed knowing him for over 50 plus years and he will be missed.

The story of BATMAN: Approximately 2004 or 2005, a producer invited several disciplines to visit their offices to figure out how to best upgrade an existing offshore platform to meet current production capacity. Several times the customer said "Where is Tom Bass", "I wish Tom Bass could be here", "Why isn't Tom Bass here".  After the meeting, one of the attendees said "Who on earth is Tom Bass...BATMAN????"
On the way back to the office, our (Hanover) representative bought a Batman statue and presented it to Tom.

The first day of my oil and gas career began with reading a paper written by Mr. Bass. I have been privileged to be mentored by many who have been directly mentored by Tom himself. I have met him once and almost asked for his autograph jokingly because of his obvious impact in this industry. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Peace and comfort be with Tom's whole family at this time of mourning. May the Good Lord keep you in the palm of His hand until we meet again.

Tom was truly a great engineer and teacher.  I enjoyed working with Tom at Hanover and Exterran.  Tom had a way of breaking down complex problems and making the solutions seem simple.  Thank you for all you taught me Tom and may your soul rest in peace.  Our prayers are with Tom's family and relatives at this time.

My deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Bass it's a true loss to his friends and family. I worked with Tom on a few occasions throughout the years and he always left a lasting impression with everyone he knew. He will be truly missed by all he knew but the knowledge and friendship he shared will last in our hearts and minds and will be passed to others.

Tom and I have worked together for close to 30 years, dating back to the MO Inc.era. Tom was a mentor to me in my early career and to that I believe I am a better person. After I left the Exterran, Tom & I shared many emails together and I always looked forward to hearing from Tom. Words cannot express what you mean to me.  You were a second dad to me with your advice and guidence and were a big influence on me being the man I am today.  I so missed our Friday night visits and would give anything for one more of them. I will miss our time fixing something together or teaching me the right way to do it.  I always admired your genius in figuring things out.  You made it look easy. Most of all I will miss you loving me like a son and always being there in the pinch. My parents, Bill & Juanita Smith, went to church at Norhill when I was just a small child.  I barely remember Tommy & Bobby Bass, but, strangely, I have wondered lately about whatever happened to them.  Then I see this.  My mother will be sad to hear of this, but I know she will remember.  My condolences to the family.  I know he must have been a good man.

What a privilege and joy it was to know Tommy.  As we walked our dog through the neighborhood, we often stopped to visit with him.  We spoke of our family, home repairs, and our beloved pets. He will be greatly missed.

Tom, you will truly be missed!  You had the spirit of a teenager and the wisdom of an old soul.  Thank you for walking me through the steps of Compression when I joined Exterran.  I hope you have many more adventures....

Kathy always said we were joined at the hip I never dreamed it would be that we would lose our husbands one year apart. Tommy was a wonderful brother in law. When Joe died he helped fill in the gap. His unwavering love for you and his family was always evident in all he did. You never had to worry about what he thought because he would tell you. My love for him was like a brother and I will miss him greatly. I bet he and Joe are in Heaven right now and he is still trying to tell Joe how to do whatever he is doing or they are talking about guns. I love you my sister and will always be there for you. Jean and family I am so sorry for your sudden loss.  Tommy was such a kind man and am so grateful for the care y'all gave my kids when you baby sat them. What a great engineer and person! During our time at Hanover, the deep water platforms in the Gulf of Mexico were active and these projects required some very flexible gas compression equipment. They had complex designs however there was never a project that Tom could not engineer or design. He always made it look easy, but we all knew that was not the case. He definitely was Batman…. Thank you for all your knowledge that you shared and for your friendship.

Seldom do you have the opportunity to walk in the shadow of a truly kind and gentle man like Tom Bass. I value my years of friendship with Tommy and feel blessed to have had him pass my way. I know the family is deep in sorrow now but I don't think it will take long before you bask in the light of the love and admiration from all the people whose life he touched. God's Blessings on you all.

We will miss him greatly.  Our prayers are with Jean and all the family.  We will treasure our many memories of our times at the lake.
