
Vic was born June 3, 1917 in Houston, Texas and was a lifelong citizen and resident of Houston and a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Downtown Houston. He died early Thursday morning, December 2, 2010 peacefully in his sleep as our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ brought Vic safely home to heaven. Vic was an only child to his parents, Henry and Martha Stuebner. Vic was baptized and confirmed at Trinity. He graduated from Sam Houston High School and received a M.B.A. from the University of Houston following WWII. During WWII, Vic served in the U.S. Army in the Quartermasters Corps from May, 1942 to January, 1946 in the Pacific Theatre of the War reaching the rank of Master Sergeant. Vic met his future wife Edith Leverkuhn at Trinity during High School. Their relationship blossomed into enduring love in a marriage of almost 62 years. They were married at Trinity in 1941. Vic worked for 41 years at Airco as an accountant. He was very interested in local family history and working and spending time with family at the family farm. His favorite hobby was working with wood creating beautiful furniture and refinishing antiques. He served Trinity as a Trustee and an Elder and was very faithful in Worship and Bible Study. He is best remembered as a wonderful grandfather to Megan, Patrick, Sigrid, Paula and Cheryl. Vic was generous in giving to local charities, Lutheran Ministries and Veterans’ causes. Vic and Edith were blessed with four children of which two sons died in infancy and their daughter Ann died in 2009 after a valiant battle with cancer. Vic was preceded in death by his parents, two infant sons, his wife Edith and by his daughter Ann. Vic is survived by his son, David Stuebner and wife Siggy; by his son-in-law Rev. Walter Dube; grandchildren, Paula Meier and husband Don; Cheryl Worley and husband Kirk; Sigrid Wilkirson and husband Brack; Megan Divine and husband James; and Patrick Stuebner; great-grandchildren, Andrea Meier, Christopher Worley, Paige Worley, Pierce Frazier, and Riley Wilkirson. Vic is sorely missed by his family and many friends. Memorials may be given to the glory of God in Vic’s memory to Trinity Lutheran Church, H.U.G. Building Campaign, 800 Houston Avenue, Houston, TX 77007, or, to Houston National Cemetery Council, 10710 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77038. Interment will follow this Service of Celebration at Hollywood Cemetery. To God be all the glory.
