Mother, I don't know what to do with myself now that you are gone. We spent the better part of the last three years together, and even more so in the last year. It brought us closer together and for that I am grateful. No one can surpass your love for your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Your chair at Thanksgiving will be empty and that makes me sad.  However, I do believe you are in a better place now, pain and stress free, and that makes me happy.  You will never be forgotten Mother. May you rest in peace, I love you.

My memories of Virginia keep surfacing and pouring over me like a wave.  The wave is unstoppable - full of life with bits of sand, broken shell, seaweed, and starfish.  I remember her delight in new Boston adventures and rides into Savannah's sumptuous squares for new cuisines, her search for the perfect gifts for the children back home.  I see her smile, her tears of parting, her temper, her generosities, stubbornness, and amazing honesty at times, her willingness to try again or to look at something from a different point of view.  But, most of all, I am feeling my own loss.  She will be remembered, because she can't be forgotten.  I hope that each family member and friend holds onto scenes that surface in the wave of memory and find some pearls in all the force.  What I remember most today is her search for the right words for sentiments she couldn't express. Virginia loved her family and friends so deeply; she would stand for hours at a Walgreens or Kroegers to find just the right poetry to let the you know how she felt.

Alice we can remember the three of us laughing together, and Family Fued.  I only hope she finally appreciated all the love and support you showered her with... what a wonderful daughter.  She is happy flying above and free.

Aunt Viriginia, I was glad I could be with you at the end.  We were not blood related , but always called you aunt.  As a child I always remember your wonderful laugh and it continued until the end and I enjoyed our many conversations in the last few years.  Love you. May you rest in peace.  Love,
