

William Dudley O’Fiel, Bill, was called home on Thursday, October 29, 2015. Bill was a fifth generation Houstonian. He was born on August 22, 1942. He loved his God, his family, and his country. He graduated from the University of Houston in 1965 with a mechanical engineering degree and always maintained strong Cougar Pride. Upon graduation, Bill joined his family company, Shur-Flo, and worked in pipeline and sewer construction and rehabilitation for over 50 years for companies such as John Holland Construction and Boyer, after closing Shur-Flo. He is preceded in death by his parents James Cyrus Dudley O’Fiel, Jr., his mother, Kathlyn Glasson O’Fiel, and his sister Nancy Carolyn O’Fiel Turpin. Bill is survived by his wife, Sharon Ann O’Fiel, his four children; Mary Kathlyn Barnes and children Timothy Paul Barnes II and Karsen Elena Barnes; his son Harvey Lee O’Fiel and children Taylor Marie O’Fiel and Ashley Lauren O’Fiel; his daughter Shannon Leigh McCorkle and husband Joe, and children Aaron Rene Ramirez Jr., Austin Jared Ramirez, and Andrew Kyle Ramirez; and his daughter Katherine Sherard O’Fiel, and many nieces, nephews, and longtime friends.
Bill was a strong believer in Christ and served as a devoted member and worship deacon of BridgePoint Bible Church. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He had a passion for his work and was always thinking and analyzing through his engineering lens on how to “fix” things. He was often referred to as Dr. Bill or the weather guy.
Reverend Tom Douthit will lead a Celebration of Bill's Life at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2015, in the sanctuary of BridgePoint Bible Church, 13277 Katy Freeway Houston, Texas 77079, (832) 448-1330.
