Sister Willie Mae Smith "Granny" was born on August 31, 1915 in Houston, Texas to Elizabeth and Stillwell DuPree. She was called home to eternal rest on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at the age of 101. At an early age, she confessed Christ and was baptized at New Zion Baptist Church under the direction of Reverend G. H. Guyton. Later in life, she joined Green Meadow Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Roy Stewart. On October 23, 1933, Willie Mae was united in Holy Matrimony to Jesse Smith. To this union eight children were born. She leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Narvel Stewart (Leonard - deceased); stepdaughter, Elouise Smithers; six sons, Louis E. Smith, Sr. (Bobbie Lois), Joe M. Smith, Thomas R. Smith, Willie E. Smith, Sr. (Louise), Curtis J. Smith and Earnest Smith (Linda); twenty-seven grandchildren, thirty-nine great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren; a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
