

Mr. Willie E. Wanza was born to the late Ida Mae Wiley and L. C. Wanza in Pointe Blank, Texas. on September 1, 1938. He accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Holman St. Baptist Church. On December 25, 1958 he fell in love and married Dorothy Smith Wanza. Together as husband and wife they built a beautiful home where for many years they opened up their home and their hearts to help others in need. Willie graduated from Yates High School then went on to further his education at the University of Houston. He later enlisted in the U.S. Army where for years he was a dedicated service man. He was honorably discharged in 1975. Thereafter Willie went to work for Texas Electric, Maxwell House then later retired from Metro where he held several management positions prior to his retirement in 2001. Willie loved music and was an avid listener of KTSU. He was a supporter of Texas Southern University and was an advocate for telling others the benefits of a good education. Among many who will remember him and cherish is loving memories are his devoted wife, Dorothy Smith Wanza; seven sisters: Virgie Mae Burnett, Eddie Mae Thomas, Elmarie Simmons (Vertise), Gloria Jean Wanza Hunter, Addie B. Haggan (Larise), Elnora Stone (Bobby), Hazel Freeman (Danny); two brothers: John D. Wanza(Maggie) and C.L. Wanza (Carrie), and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, extended family and friends.
