Alton Clark, 77, passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Huntsville Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lawrenceburg, TN but moved to the Madison County area in 1963. Mr. Clark was a contractor in Madison County for over 50 years and built many businesses, churches and homes that are still standing today.
Alton Clark was preceded in death by his parents, William Wesley Clark and Ollie Orton Clark; one brother, Lenard Clark; one sister, Velma Perry; and son-in-law, Ted Cain. Mr. Clark leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 56 years, Fern D. Weeks Clark; one son, Phillip Clark (Tammy); two daughters, Freda Cain and Michelle Johnson (Greg); three brothers, Ed Clark, Irvin Clark and Willard Clark; one sister, Reva Heatherly; six grandchildren, Jeremy Brown (Jodie), Matthew Clark, Joshua Clark, Mandy Clark, Taylor DuPre and Macey Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Blaine Brown and Sierra Brown.
Mr. Clark was a proud US Air Force Airman First Class and assisted in the re-building of Germany at the end of WWII. He loved God and set an example daily of what a true Christian was. Alton was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend, always putting others first. Alton was a selfless man, caring for his ailing wife for a number of years and was always there when needed by both his family and friends. He loved the outdoors and people and was never happier than when he was with nature or his family. Alton was dearly loved and will be missed by many.
You may visit with the family Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at Valhalla from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at 12:00 noon, in Valhalla’s Chapel, with Pastor Keith Miller of the Life Journey Church officiating.
Interment will immediately follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
