

Gladys “Cleo” Hyatt Moorehead, 85, born March 9, 1938, in Hazel Green, Alabama, passed away peacefully February 8, 2024, at her home in Madison, Alabama after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Dean Moorehead, parents Ed and Martha Hyatt, siblings; Lawrence Hyatt, Garland Hyatt, Eddie Hyatt, Lucy Sellen and Ann Himes.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Ashmore, Pat Ashmore; son, Bryan Moorehead and wife Veisha. She was a loving Granny to Cameron Ashmore, Brenan Ashmore, Rachel Davis, Joshua Moorehead, Samuel Moorehead, Ravi Lewis, and Connor Moorehead. She is survived by siblings Doris Hawkins; Georgia (James) Muirhead, Jerry (Sherry) Hyatt, Dan Hyatt and multiple generations of nieces, nephews, cousins.
Cleo was a life-long member of the Church of Christ. She was an avid sports fan of Alabama Crimson Tide football as well as Atlanta Braves baseball, who in her youth played basketball at Hazel Green High School. Her “aim” in the Senior yearbook was to play with the Arkansas Travelers. After retiring as a procurement specialist with the U.S. Army Missile Command, she found pleasure in gardening and tending to her flowers. Many have described her as a faithful friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Services will be held at Valhalla Funeral Home & Memory Gardens with visitation Monday February 12, 2024, from 5pm-8pm and Celebration of Life Tuesday February 13, 2024, at 3pm. Interment will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Russel Hill Cancer Foundation or Phil Hyatt Scholarship c/o WCHS 199 Pioneer Lane McMinnville, TN 37110.
