John Christopher “Chris” Evans of Huntsville, AL passed away unexpectedly on May 29, 2019 at his residence. Chris was born in Huntsville, AL on November 27, 1978. He was a student at Madison Academy and Lee High School. Chris is survived by his parents, Thomas and Dera Evans of Huntsville, AL, his brother and his wife, Thomas and Angela Evans of San Antonio, TX, and his nephews Austin Johnson, Logan Evans, Liam Evans, and Aiden Evans. Chris loved his family and showered affection upon his nephews.
Chris was an avid fan of heavy metal music and was a regular at several music venues in Alabama, Tennessee, and Georgia. Heavy metal concerts brought him peace and joy. He was also a diehard fan of NASCAR and the University of Alabama football. Chris was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at a young age. He struggled with the limitations imposed by the disease for his entire life and the ridicule inflicted by inconsiderate peers. Chris had a hard time of letting go of the past, and many of the words said to him in his childhood continued to sting in adulthood. In adulthood, he struggled with depression related to his difficult childhood. Chris is proof that words can often leave deep scars. Be kind and considerate to everyone in memory of Chris.
Megadeth was one of Chris’s favorite bands and the lyrics of one of their songs is so appropriate in this trying time for his family:
“So as you read this, know my friends, I’d love to stay with you all. Please smile when you think about me. My body’s gone that’s all.”
A visitation for John will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2019 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home, with a chapel service at 2:00 PM, burial to follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens, 698 Winchester Rd Ne, Huntsville, Alabama.
