Lois Inez Motes Hill, 80, of Huntsville, AL was born August 4, 1936 in Decatur, Morgan County, AL. She was carried home in the arms of her Lord on Sunday, February 19, 2017 from Huntsville Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson and Ruth Irene Armstrong Motes. She graduated from Speak High School in 1953 having taught school her senior year due to a shortage of teachers. Following high school she graduated from business college in Decatur, AL. She married Thomas M. Hill on October 6, 1956, celebrating 43 years of marriage before his death in 1999. After moving to Huntsville she worked for several years at Askew’s Office Supply and then began a long career at Production Credit Association working her way from secretary to Vice President upon her retirement. In retirement she volunteered at the Department of Human Resources. Mrs. Hill was very involved in her local church holding several offices including serving as a delegate to the denominations regional gathering in Atlanta, GA several times. One of her former pastors wrote that, “We remember Lois as a wonderful friend, caring neighbor, dedicated Christian and loyal church member and officer at the Free Methodist Church in Huntsville, AL. She was a great worker with teens, Christian Youth Crusaders, and Child Evangelism. A compassionate wife, mother and foster mother. Lois was a real 'jewel' as described in Proverbs 31.” Her home was always a refuge to family members needing a place to stay, foster children, foreign exchange students and special speakers and musicians in town for ministry at her church. One of those that found refuge in her home recently wrote, “They raised their two children in faith and love. They took it further to opening their doors to foster kids that to this day look at them as mom and dad. I know the two of them saw them as their own. They had foreign exchange students. They took care of me while my mom finished school. The list goes on and on. Their doors were basically open with out question to anyone in need or needing a place to stay.” She is survived by her 5 children, Chris Hill (Cindy) of Oil City, PA, Lois Roberts (Woody), Joyce Allen, Susan Towery (Ray) all of Hazel Green, AL and Tony Locklear (Velissa) of Roland, NC. Her 14 grandchildren, Chad Hill (Nicole), Michael Roberts, Michelle Hubert (Lucas), Kristie Billions (Jeff), Steven Allen, Brandi Land (David), Michael Towery (Tammy), Emilyanne Towery, Jonathan Towery, LeRon Chavis, Danielle Brewer (Random), Tony Locklear Jr., Payton Locklear, and Logan Locklear; 14 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Faye Johnson of Summerville, AL, Betty Little of Pinellas Park, FL and Linda Stewart of Huntsville, AL; two brothers, Fred Motes of Priceville, AL and John Motes of Athens, AL as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
